KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) The Seattle Seahawks put reserve running back Josh Scobey on injured reserve Tuesday, after the special teams standout broke a bone in his upper arm on Sunday night.

Seattle also released quarterback Gibran Hamdan.

Scobey started the season as Seattle's kickoff returner, before the team signed Willie Ponder and eventually settled on Nate Burleson as its returner. Scobey was a strong special teams contributor, tied for the team lead with 12 special-teams tackles.

"He's such a tough guy that I thought he was kind of indestructible," Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said on Monday. "But he took a shot."

Hamdan was in Seattle's training camp, but was cut. He was signed by San Francisco, but was among the 49ers' final set of cuts before the season.

He was re-signed by Seattle on October 24th and spent three games as the Seahawks' emergency quarterback. Hamdan was the MVP of NFL Europe last season.
