OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma State University's Oklahoma City campus will become the first in the state offering a program to train Spanish-English translators and interpreters.

OSU-OKC vice president Tim Faltyn says more than 100 students are already enrolled in the first classes beginning in January.

The program was approved by the State Regents for Higher Education in June _ just over a year after the Legislature passed a bill requiring certification for courtroom interpreters.

Students will take classes in Spanish, English, interpreting, translation, ethics and business practices. They can choose among electives including interpreting for legal, health care and law enforcement.
