NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Tailback Alonzo Anderson rushes for 182 yards and Midwest City Carl Albert scored a late touchdown to lift the Titans past Lawton MacArthur 14-10 in the Class 5A high school football championship game at Owen Field.
Carl Albert finished 13-1 and won for the ninth time in as many title-game appearances. Seven of those titles have come since 1997, all under coach Gary Rose.
The Titans closed the season on a 13-game winning streak after losing their season opener to Class 6A power Tulsa Washington.
Lawton MacArthur had started the season 0-3 and won 10 in a row before losing yesterday.
The Highlanders took a 10-7 lead in the third quarter on a 32-yard field goal by Jeff Schlitte and picked up a first down with 3:54 left in the game.
But tailback Kevin Williams fumbled and Carl Albert's Kaleb Berry recovered at midfield.
The Titans, who had only two second-half first downs to that point, scored in four plays, all runs by Anderson.
