OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Remington Park completes what track officials say is its most successful thoroughbred meet ever, thanks to an on-track casino that opened last November.
During the 68-day meet that ended Tuesday, the track paid an average of $178,730 a day in purses, far more than the previous record daily average of $106,482, set in 1996.
Remington Park's average field size was 9.6 horses per race, another track record.
The track's on-track live handle was about $5.33 million, a 17.5 percent increase from last year.
Perhaps most importantly, the track's attendance for the meet was 324,088, up 209.4 percent from 2005.
