Some parts of Green Country got more than a foot of snow in what’s turned out to be a historic winter storm. While the snow has stopped falling, there are still plenty of problems.

News on 6 anchor Craig Day says the good news is the sun came in many parts of Green Country that helped to melt some of the snow on area roads. The bad news, some of that melted snow is frozen again. Driving is still very dangerous.

As soon as the sun went down, progress made with an afternoon warm up quickly slid downhill. Whether it's the Interstates, state highways, city streets, you name it, driving on a night like this is dangerous.

"I just came right down the street. We had to get gas because my husband has to go to work in the morning. Yeah. It's pretty slick out there," Broken Arrow resident Felicia Gwinn said.

"Well it's pretty bad. It's the worst I've seen it in many years out here, especially in November," Kevin Bridges of Broken Arrow said.

It's proving to be a November to remember. An ambulance that went off the Broken Arrow expressway near 145th East Avenue is one of several emergency vehicles that needed to call for help themselves. A Tulsa police officer was stopped on the side of the road at 71st and highway 169, to help another stalled vehicle that's when another car slid into the police car, there were no injuries.

Again, the main problem for drivers on the main highways and roads is that the snow has melted and has frozen once again. The problem on the secondary roads is that many of those roads haven't even been plowed at all. Once cars get stuck in a rut, that's bad news."

Chau Nguyen found that out the hard way. She called for help to get unstuck.

"I can't. Don't know what to do when you're stuck, you know," Nguyen said. "Around here, bunch of cars on the side of the road. A lot of this stuff like this, ain't been snow plowed, ain't been sanded. Lot of stuff like that."

"There's still a lot of icy spots and you've got to kind of slow down and pay attention to how you are driving and Craig: It makes you a little nervous? Yes it does," said Bridges.

Many of the stranded cars seen from SkyNews 6 were ran off the road because of icy bridges. Snow packed and icy on ramps and off ramps are also a big problem.

Really, conditions are bad on most all roads. Drivers are urged to be extremely cautious.
