CHANDLER, Okla. (AP) _ A man accused of killing his two-year-old stepdaughter will go to trial early next year.
Michael Lee Porter is accused of sexual abuse and first-degree murder in the October 2005 death of Kelsey Smith-Briggs. He has pleaded not guilty.
Lincoln County District Judge Paul Vassar set a February 12th start date for the high-profile case, which has led to reform legislation and lawsuits.
Porter hasn't asked for a change of venue and the deadline to make such a request has passed.
More than 60 people are listed as potential prosecution witnesses, while Porter's attorney listed 119 people as potential defense witnesses.
