OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Children from 21 Oklahoma communities help spread holiday cheer at the Capitol, capped by the lighting of a 30-foot Christmas tree on the south steps.

Students decorated 40 small trees in the fourth-floor rotunda area.

Also, lights were placed on 100 live evergreen trees that have been planted throughout the Capitol complex as part of the state's Centennial celebration.

Governor Brad Henry and first lady Kim Henry played host to students Tuesday night representing schools in Bethany, Blanchard, Cashion, Chickasha, Choctaw, Edmond, El Reno, Geary, Harrah, Lawton, Meeker, Moore, Newcastle, Norman, Oklahoma City, Piedmont, Sand Springs, Shawnee, Stillwater, Terral and Yukon.

The Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation donated the 30-foot-tall artificial evergreen two years ago.

It features 2,000 white lights and 120 silver bells and is topped with a silver and white bow.
