KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) A pickup lost control Sunday in freezing drizzle and crossed into oncoming traffic where it was struck by another pickup, killing five people, authorities said.
All the victims were in a black Ford F150, which bumped the car in front of it on Interstate 80 before losing control and crossing the median, the Nebraska State Patrol said.
At least one other person in the Ford pickup was injured, as well as two people in the Dodge pickup. No injuries were reported in the car that was initially struck.
The names, ages and genders of the five people killed would not be released until Monday, the State Patrol said. The relationship between the victims had not been determined, Patrol spokeswoman Deb Collins said.
Numerous other crashes were reported in the area.
``Freezing drizzle is creating travel problems along a good portion of the interstate,'' Capt. Chris Kolb said. ``Motorists can expect slick roads, especially on the bridges and overpasses.''
