The Sapulpa city attorney says an oil driller cannot re-open a capped oil well in a Sapulpa neighborhood.
Homeowners were outraged that the new owner of the mineral rights on their land was planning to start drilling again. They say the wells have been capped for about 10 years.
City Attorney David Widdoes told the Sapulpa Daily Herald that the city can stop drilling inside city limits, even if the driller has a permit from the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.
