With flu season on the way, the Tulsa City-County Health Department is helping people with free flu shots.
Hundreds of people lined up this weekend in Bixby to get their shots.
Officials say there's plenty of vaccine available, and now is the time to do this. January is the height of flu season in Tulsa. It takes two weeks for the vaccination to become effective.
Health officials say getting a shot only takes a few minutes, and everyone should consider getting one. Janice Sheehan with the health department: "It's very important; several thousand people die every year when they don't get the flu vaccine."
If you want to get a flu shot this week, check out the Tulsa City-County Health Department's website for locations.
