WASHINGTON (AP) -- Congressman Tom Cole of Oklahoma will lead the Republicans efforts to win back the US House and Senate.

Cole on Friday won a three-way race to become chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.

Cole recently won a third term to the House after a career as a political consultant who ran successful campaigns for GOP candidates including former Governor Frank Keating, Congressman Frank Lucas and former Congressman JC Watts.

His job includes finding the most high-profile candidates for the GOP going into the '-08 elections and raising money to support their campaigns.
