OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A Fort Cobb man receives a life sentence for murdering his three young children in 2005.
US District Judge Robin Cauthron sentenced 48-year-old Dean Payne to three life sentences for killing 9-year-old Ciera; 7-year-old Keelie and 5-year-old Tye Payne.
Prosecutors say Payne shot each of the children in the head twice before setting his Caddo County home on fire early August 25th, 2005.
Payne pleaded guilty to the three counts on August 10th.
He was charged with murder within Indian country because the killings happened on tribal land.
Payne is a member of the Comanche Nation, which decided not to allow the death penalty, leaving life in prison as an option.
