PICHER, Okla. (AP) -- State and federal agencies will be in Picher tonight to answer questions and provide information about the federal buyout of land in the Tar Creek Superfund Site in northeast Oklahoma.
About 700 residents and business owners are in the proposed buyout area which has been found to be in danger of collapsing into the ground.
The land in the area is contaminated after years of lead and zinc mining which also left hundreds of caves under the ground.
Representatives of Congressman Dan Boren's staff will join three federal agencies and state agencies at the meeting beginning at 6 tonight at Picher High School.
