McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities say a woman who was found dead at her McAlester home died of asphyxiation.

Regina Stachmus' husband found her dead near a hot tub on the back deck on her condominium Tuesday morning.

According to the state Medical Examiner's office, the 33-year-old Stachmus also had an injury on the bridge of her nose. Police are still trying to determine whether she died because of her injuries or was strangled.

Assistant Police Chief Darrell Miller says police aren't sure how long Stachmus had been dead.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been asked to assist in the probe.

The building that included the Stachmus townhouse is adjacent to two unoccupied new homes that burned Saturday night.

Police are investigating the fires as arson.
