OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Democrat Jari Askins will be the next lieutenant governor of Oklahoma.

Askins defeated Republican Todd Hiett and independent EZ Million for the state's second-highest office.

Askins says she's looking forward to working with Governor Brad Henry during the next four years and will work to bring jobs to Oklahoma and reduce youth poverty.

Hiett conceded the race shortly before midnight and says he isn't ruling out a future political race.
