YUKON, Okla. (AP) _ Canadian County prosecutors charge an Oklahoma City man with negligent homicide in the May 15th death of a passenger in his pickup truck.
James Edward Curnutt II was charged with a misdemeanor count of negligent homicide on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old Curnutt was driving west across the railroad tracks on East Vandament Avenue, when the pickup truck was struck by a southbound train.
Seventeen-year-old Tylar Jordan Kammerzell died in the wreck.
The charge alleges Curnutt failed to obey a visible and audible signal device at the crossing. The crossing is not equipped with safety arms.
City Manager Jim Crosby says the Union Pacific Railroad is expected to install crossing arms next spring.
