Remington Park Hits 1 Million Mark In Attendance
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- For the first time in more than a decade, Remington Park surpasses the 1 million mark in attendance this year.
Track officials recognized Larry Canaday of Oklahoma City Tuesday as the 1 millionth fan at Remington Park this year.
Canaday received free buffet dinners, racing programs and other prizes good through October 2007.
The attendance milestone came four days after the track recorded its best all-sources pari-mutuel handle total of the decade. Remington Park's handle on Friday, when Mister Pursuit won the Oklahoma Derby, was $1,988,873.
That was the track's best all-sources handle since the day of the 1999 Oklahoma Derby, when the track's handle was slightly more than $2.27 million.
All-sources handle includes the handle on-track on both live races and imported simulcast races, all races taken at Remington Park's five off-track betting sites and handle by all other racing jurisdictions wagering on Remington Park's races.
