NORMAN, Okla. (AP) The same team that was dead last in the Big 12 Conference in total defense is now back at the top.
And what a time for a resurgence for the Oklahoma Sooners.
With Adrian Peterson expected to miss the rest of the regular season with a broken collarbone, Oklahoma put together its second dominant performance of the season on defense Saturday in a 24-3 win over Colorado.
The Sooners improved to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Big 12 and moved up one spot to #19 in the AP poll released yesterday.
The Sooners held the Buffaloes to a season low 113 yards of total offense and gave up only 5 1st downs to claim the top mark among Big 12 defenses. At 266.7 yards per game, Oklahoma ranks 11th in the nation in total defense.
