EDMOND, Okla. (AP) The Tulsa men's golf team has captured its first tournament title in just its third event this fall.
The Golden Hurricane captured an 11 stroke victory at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate yesterday. Tulsa shot a final round 295 and outdistanced 2nd place Baylor by 11 strokes with an 889 total for 54 holes.
The victory is the first tournament win for the Hurricane since capturing the Western Athletic Conference Championship in May 2005.
For the Hurricane, senior Sam Korbe and sophomore Nicolas Geyger finished 1-2 for medalist honors.
Korbe grabbed his second career victory by shooting a final round 76 and finishing 1 stroke ahead of Geyger. Korbe had a 6 over par 219 score, followed by Geyger's 7 over par 220.
