NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ New Oklahoma basketball coach Jeff Capel had a surprise visitor to his team's open tryouts this weekend.

OU defensive back Lendy Holmes was one of a dozen men who showed up at the Lloyd Noble Center Sunday night as auditions were held for walk-ons.

The 6-foot-1 Holmes was an all-district basketball player at South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas.

Director of Basketball Operations Bryan Goodman says they didn't let Holmes try out because they wanted to check with coach Bob Stoops first.
