A memorial in Porter honors a U.S. War veteran. Porter's High School Class of 1966 has been collecting funds for a Veterans Memorial in memory of their classmate.
Private First Class Rex Lee Brown was killed in combat in South Vietnam. The monument was dedicated at Porter's Greenwood Cemetery over the weekend.
Roy Essary class of 1964, Memorial Organizer: "to my knowledge he [Brown] is one of the only Vietnam veterans from porter that has passed away that was killed in Vietnam war, he has a lot of family and friends".
Organizers say the memorial was built in memory of Brown but it stands in honor of all veterans.
