An Oklahoma Marine has made it home safely for some R&R.

After several delays, Claremore Marine Daniel Welch arrived safely at the airport. The News on 6 met Daniel earlier this year when he sent a video Mother's Day message from Iraq. She had trouble finding her son's message, so the News on 6 helped her out.

Daniel spent nearly a year in Iraq and says he loves his job. "All the support from back home. We sure do appreciate it. Nothing is going to slow us down so we just keep going. I still love the Marine Corp, I'm still as motivated as I was when I got in, I just love it."

Daniel only gets a few weeks off before he has to report back to duty. He says he'll spend that time resting and eating mom's home cooking.
