NEW YORK (AP) Carlos Delgado's fourth hit of the day broke a 7th inning tie and the Mets went on to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-5 in the first game of their National League Division Series.

Delgado's third single came off of Brad Penny and drove in Jose Reyes with the tie breaking run. David Wright followed with an RBI double.

Ramon Martinez doubled with 2 outs in the 9th to bring the Dodgers within a run, but Mets closer Billy Wagner struck out Nomar Garciaparra to end the game.

Delgado celebrated the first post-season game of his career with a home run in the the 4th inning to tie the game. Cliff Floyd also got his first post-season homer later in the inning to give the Mets the lead and Wright added a 2 run double in the 6th inning.

The Dodgers tied the game with 3 runs in the top of the 7th on an RBI single by Rafael Furcal and Garciaparra's 2 run double.

The Dodgers had two players thrown out at the plate on the same play when they tried to score on a hit to right field in the 2nd inning. Mets catcher Paul LoDuca took the relay throw and spun around to tag out Jeff Kent. LoDuca then scrambled back in front of the plate to get JD Drew.
