Man With BB Gun Prompts Mcalester School Lockdown

McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- A report of a man with a gun near a school in McAlester Wednesday morning led officials to briefly lock down the Jefferson Early Childhood Center.

McAlester Public Schools Campus Police Chief Clyde Heathcock says the weapon turned out to be a BB gun.

Heathcock says a teacher saw the man get out of a pickup truck with what she thought was a shotgun and she called campus police.

Campus police then called McAlester Police and the school was locked down for about an hour-and-a-half.
