Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a bungee cord to snap on a ride at the Tulsa State Fair Monday afternoon.
48-year-old Steve Stone dangled in the air for 30 minutes after a cord on the 'Ejection Seat' snapped during his ride. Rescuers were able to get him down safely, and Stone suffered only minor injuries.
A crew spent the day Tuesday dismantling the ride, that will be out of commission for the rest of the Tulsa State Fair. Investigators say they are determined to figure out what happened.
Don Haskins with the Oklahoma Department of Labor: "Oklahoma is fortunate they have some of the most experienced ride inspectors in the country, we take our job very seriously and I take it personally when we have an incident."
The Department of Labor says this is the first time a bungee cord has ever failed on a ride in Oklahoma.
