Some prominent Tulsa women join together to stress an important issue.
In a news conference Friday, Mayor Kathy Taylor proclaimed October Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Tulsa. She has teamed with City Councilor Maria Barnes, State Senator Judy Eason-McIntyre and County Commissioner Randi Miller to launch the month-long campaign.
The four women have filmed a public service announcement with Cox Communications that will promote the effort at various opportunities throughout the month.
Tulsa mayor Kathy Taylor: "We want to make sure that people are aware and educated about the prevention available for breast cancer because this is a deadly disease for woman and can be particularly deadly for minority women."
The PSA is designed to increase awareness of low-cost services available for the early detection of breast cancer.
