OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The state multicounty grand jury issues a sealed five-count indictment after hearing testimony from Grady County law enforcement officers who the county district attorney says provided protection for illegal gambling.

Grady County District Attorney Bret Burns would not identify the four individuals named in the indictment or indicate when the indictment would be unsealed.

County Sheriff Kieran McMullen, his police detective wife, Helen McMullen, and Jailer Greg Parks all briefly testified Friday before the grand jury.

The grand jury also heard testimony from officers who carried out a September 6th raid at the Chickasha Elks Lodge, during which gambling machines were seized.

Burns also presented evidence to the grand jury. Grand jury hearings are closed to the public.

Kieran McMullen and his attorney, Ryland Rivas, say they did not know about the indictment and declined comment.
