A Tulsa mother is apologizing to the family of an 11-year-old boy. Her daughter is accused of driving the car that hit and killed the boy last week.
Tulsa Police say a 15-year-old girl was behind the wheel, when the car spun out of control and hit Fabian Saenz while he was mowing a yard.
The girl's mother says she was at work at the time of the accident and her brother was supposed to be watching the kids.
In an exclusive interview with the News on 6, she says she wants people to know her children didn't steal the car. She says an aunt gave them the keys and she says she's very sorry for the Saenz loss. “I'm going through a lot right now, trying to deal with both sides of it. Because I'm thinking about how hurt the other family is to have lost their child, cause I know I would be terribly hurt if it was me."
The 15-year-old is being held in a juvenile detention center. So far, no charges have been filed.
