OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ There are now rules to regulate tattoo parlors and body-piercing shops in Oklahoma.
The state Board of Health is adopting regulations that include licensing of body artists and restricts tattoos to people 18 or older. They go into effect November 1st.
Tattoo artists must complete courses in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and blood-related diseases. They also must pass a competency test that will be given at vo-tech centers across the state.
Tattoo shops and body-piercing business must also be at least one-thousand feet away from a church, school or playground.
State lawmakers legalized tattooing in Oklahoma earlier this year.
