OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Country music star Vince Gill and songwriter Jimmy Webb have revealed their new song about Oklahoma to help celebrate the state's centennial celebration next year.
Lyrics to "Oklahoma Rising" include references to the Oklahoma Land Run, the Dust Bowl and the Oklahoma City bombing.
Webb wrote the lyrics and Gill wrote the music and the two performed the song in public for the first time at the end of a 90-minute performance Monday night at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City.
The two were accompanied by Mohican Indian Bill Miller, the Ambassadors and the Canterbury Choral Society.
The new song isn't intended to replace the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic "Oklahoma!" as the state song but will be used during next year's centennial celebration.
