STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) A dominant 52-10 win against Missouri State only increases the optimism at Oklahoma State in coach Mike Gundy's second season.

Coming off a 4-7 season, the Cowboys proved immediately that they have more players who can make game-changing plays and took the first step toward removing themselves from the bottom of the Big 12 South.

OSU built a 38 point halftime lead against their NCAA Division 1 AA foe and got valuable playing time for young reserves that could come in handy down the stretch.

Last season, the Cowboys needed everything they had to squeeze past 1 AA Montana State for a 15-10 win.

Even after that win in last season's opener, OSU had an emotional letdown heading into Week 2. The team's energy now is far different.

Gundy says he thinks his players feel pretty good about themselves right now. He says neither confidence nor overconfidence is a problem for OSU.

Gundy believes his players know they're up for a stiffer test this week against Arkansas State.
