UNDATED (AP) _ Heisman Trophy finalist Vince Young and NCAA standard setter Brad Smith may be playing in the NFL instead of the Big 12, but their successors are doing just fine.

The new quarterbacks at Texas and Missouri had impressive starts and the new starting signal-callers and old hats at some of the other conference schools did OK too.

Redshirt freshman Colt McCoy replaced Young for defending national champion Texas, and led the Number 3 Longhorns to six touchdowns in his seven drives for a 56-to-7 victory over North Texas.

Sophomore Chase Daniel set a school record with five TD passes in a 47-to-7 victory over Murray State, going 23-of-32 for 320 yards in his first career start.

Texas Tech sophomore Graham Harrell also threw five TDs in his first start, hitting 34-of-49 passes for 342 yards in a 35-3 victory over SMU.

And sophomore Bobby Reid was 8-of-17 for 165 yards and four TD's, doubling his 2005 season total, in Oklahoma State's 52-to-10 victory over Missouri State.
