ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) -- State tourism officials are taking proposals from private developers interested in building a new resort at Lake Murray in southern Oklahoma.

The new three-star or four-star resort sought by the state would replace a 50-year-old state lodge that has 50 rooms and 81 cabins.

State Tourism Department spokesman Mike Fina says the department began accepting proposals on August 18th.

The state is trying to sell a state lodge and park property at nearby Lake Texoma, but Fina says plans are to lease, not sell, the land for the project at Lake Murray to a private developer.
