BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) _ A sheriff's deputy remains on administrative paid leave after fatally shooting a man during a struggle.
Authorities say Deputy Bobby Hair shot and killed 33 year old Brett Crabtree on Friday morning after a fight following a traffic stop.
Officials say Crabtree managed to take away the deputy's flashlight and strike him on the back of the head.
Hair says his vision was blurred after the blow, but while he was on his hands and knees he fired three shots from his .40 caliber handgun.
He struck Crabtree once in the arm and another time in the head.
Officials say Crabtree died at the scene, and Hair received stitches and is recovering at home from his injuries.
Officials say Hair will be on leave until the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation completes its analysis of the shooting.
