OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Governor Brad Henry says the state's not expected to receive more hurricane evacuees until next week.
But Henry says Oklahoma will remain ready to assist additional survivors in the days and weeks to come.
Federal emergency authorities have asked states to participate in a rotating standby list that puts several different states "on call" each day. Oklahoma wasn't included on the first state-by-state standby list for the period of September 8th thru the 14th.
The first list was comprised of states that have received few or no evacuees to date. Federal statistics indicate that Oklahoma is caring for more evacuees than almost any other state. Only Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana are housing more evacuees.
