VICTORVILLE, Calif. (AP) -- A fugitive from Oklahoma who faked his own death to elude capture was arrested at a house on the edge of town, authorities said.

49 year old Dale Livingston of Tulsa offered no resistance Monday when San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies and Oklahoma bail bondsmen stormed the house in the Mojave Desert 60 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

Livingston was on the lam since April when he faked his drowning in an Oklahoma lake.

"He didn't want to tell us who he was, but at the end he said: 'You know who I am,"' Sgt. Chris Elvert said.

Livingston was sentenced to life without parole on a 1994 first-degree murder conviction in a case in which his ex-wife's boyfriend was doused with gasoline and set on fire. The conviction was overturned in 1995 due to a conflict of interest involving Livingston's attorney.

Livingston in March pleaded not guilty to raping a 6-year-old girl in 2004 and was due in court in May.

His current wife dropped him off at the Grand Lake camp grounds in April and a suicide note and partially submerged boat were found later. Authorities suspected a ruse and continued searching for him.
