Tulsa's American Red Cross volunteers are headed to Houston to help evacuees.
Thousands of hurricane victims are being taken to the Houston Astrodome. Most are arriving with just the clothes on their back. Red Cross volunteers are taking those people the basics, like food and water.
Tulsa volunteer Dick Chambers says helping makes him feel good. "I enjoy helping people I'm retired and I made all four hurricanes last year, and I made Dennis this year and this will be the sixth one I guess and it's just a great feeling to be able to help people."
The Red Cross is sending more than 2,000 volunteers to help staff 250 shelters in the Houston area.
