The Oklahoma Highway Patrol was busy Wednesday afternoon with a major traffic tie-up on the Turner Turnpike west of Sapulpa.
A power pole snapped causing power lines to fall across the turnpike between Sapulpa and Kellyville. Traffic was backed up for more than an hour in both directions.
Utility officials say a contractor was moving some cables to a new pole when the pole snapped and threw the worker from his bucket truck.
OG&E worked to fix the damage. SBC spokesperson Andy Morgan: "OG&E's going to put in a new pole. We're going to reattach all the cables. And we've got an investigation underway to kind of see to find out why this happened."
The worker was hurt but is able to walk around. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
