WILL ROGERS AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Okla. (AP) -- The Oklahoma Air National Guard will help in the evacuation in Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Members of the 137th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron and the 185th Airlift Squadron left Wednesday to help move 2,500 patients from the New Orleans Veterans Affairs Hospital.
The patients will be taken by ambulance to the Baton Rouge Airport where the 137th and an Air Guard unit from Michigan will take them to Jackson, Mississippi.
The 137th is based at Will Rogers Air National Guard Base in Oklahoma City.
