LAWTON, Okla. (AP) _ Southbound Interstate 44 is back open after a deadly crash involving a tractor-trailer and a bus caused it to close for more than three hours.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 22 year-old Lawyer McClinton of Lawton was driving north in the southbound lanes when his car was hit head-on by a 2002 Freightliner semi around 11 last night.
McClinton's 1996 Kia then ricocheted off the southbound bus. Authorities say McClinton was pinned for about two hours before being freed by the Jaws of Life early this morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of the semi and the bus were treated at a hospital and released.
The highway patrol says McClinton was not wearing a seat belt, but the other two drivers had theirs on. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.
