The Washington County DAâ€™s office has amended charges against a Dewey woman who allegedly gave birth while drunk.

37 year old Melissa Tanner now faces one charge of child abuse. Medical records indicate the baby, born on June 30th, had symptoms consistent with fetal alcohol syndrome and that the child suffered from withdrawals, indicating that it was addicted to alcohol.

Tanner had previous convictions in Washington County and remains in jail on $30,000 bond.
