STILWELL, Okla. (AP) -- Chief George Wickliffe says a $7.5-million plan to improve the United Keetoowah Band's tribal compound will help the tribe function.
Tribal officials say they're planning day care, wellness, cultural and health centers for the 75 acres of land the tribe purchased near Tahlequah. The US Bureau of Indian Affairs is still reviewing trust approval for the land.
The 9,000-member tribe is also considering athletic fields and civil defense plans.
