OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma City Police arrest a woman on suspicion of injecting her 2-year-old daughter with a foreign substance in a possible case of Munchausen by proxy syndrome.

30-year-old Sarena Sherrard was booked into the Oklahoma County jail Sunday after seeking care for her daughter at OU Medical Center's Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Sherrard was taken from the hospital, questioned and then booked into jail where she was being held Monday in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The child is in the custody of the state Department of Human Services.

Irven Box, Sherrard's attorney, says the girl has been ill since birth with stomach problems and has had 13 surgeries to address her gastric difficulties.

An Oklahoma County juvenile court judge Monday ruled that Sarena Sherrard and husband Kevin Ray Sherrard couldn't visit their daughter until a further court order is issued.

Kevin Sherrard couldn't be reached for comment.
