OU tops list for American Indian professional degrees

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- The University of Oklahoma ranks No. 1 among 100 U.S. colleges in the number of American Indian students receiving professional degrees in dentistry, law and medicine in the 2003-2004 school year, according to a survey by a higher education journal.
OU also ranked first in the number of American Indian, black and Hispanic students earning masters degrees in the social sciences, and for the number of American Indians earning bachelors degrees in engineering.
The information appears in "Black Issues in Higher Education," a magazine dedicated to minority issues in education.
