Oklahoma may be under reporting what it spends per student.
The Oklahoma Council of Public affairs, an independent think tank, released their own figures on per pupil spending today.
Using generally accepted accounting practices, OCPA says the state spent $11,250 per student in 2003.
That's in stark contrast to the $6,400 per pupil the state says they spend that year.
OCPA says taxpayers may be interested in knowing the cost of a public education by their findings is nearly triple the average private school education.
