Civil servants are finding it harder to afford homes in the neighborhood they serve and that includes Tulsa.

The Center for Housing Policy reports the national median home price across the country is $225,000. That's up 20 percent in just 18 months.

And the report says housing in once affordable cities like Tulsa is out of reach of many teachers, firefighters and nurses. They all make far less than the $71,000 needed to qualify for the median priced home with a ten-percent down payment.

San Francisco has some of the least affordable housing, as well as New York and Boston.
