HEALDTON, Okla. (AP) -- Healdton's fire chief says a fire that destroyed two downtown buildings in the Carter County town may have been set deliberately.
Investigators say the Sunday night fire began in a small outbuilding shed behind the Pizza Deli Express building, which was consumed by flames. Four people inside the restaurant escaped unharmed.
Fire Chief Brandon Gossvener says the fire looks highly suspicious. Gossvener says it was what wasn't found that has led to the theory of arson.
He says the shed had no electricity, no light fixtures, no electrical cords -- nothing that would have ignited a fire.
The cause remains under investigation.
Ten fire departments responded to the fire. Several firefighters required medical attention from heat exhaustion.
