OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- More than half of Oklahoma's public school students receive free or reduced-price lunches.
In Oklahoma City, nearly 83 percent of students qualify, with Tulsa close behind at 78 percent.
In contrast, Deer Creek Public Schools report only 4 percent participation. In Edmond, it's 17 percent.
Many districts now are making it easier to determine if more families qualify.
Eligibility is based on family size and income. A couple with two children can earn up to about $25,000 a year and receive free meals or earn up to about $35,000 and receive reduced-price meals.
