OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Congressman Tom Cole is planning to visit several Asian countries as part of a congressional delegation.

The Republican from Moore will visit Japan, China and other nations on the trip during Congress' August recess.

House Speaker Dennis Hastert announced the trip and will be leading the seven-member delegation.

According to Hastert's announcement, the trip is meant to strengthen bilateral relations in the region. Lawmakers will meet with senior government officials regarding economic, political, security and international issues.

Last week, Cole returned from a trip to Libya, London and Lebanon with five other House members. While in Libya, the group met with Colonel Moammar Ghadafi.
