There are new developments in the effort to bring "The American" to Tulsa.
Tulsa-based Flintco Incorporated has been selected as construction manager for the massive sculpture. The artist, Osage Indian Shan Gray, says Flintco was chosen for it's proven performance of other large-scale projects and it's own Native American heritage.
"The American" depicts an eagle landing on a Native American's arm. At more than 200 feet tall, The American will be the largest and tallest free-standing bronze monument in the world.
The sculpture will be located atop Holmes Peak, about seven miles northwest of downtown Tulsa.
